Although these types of lifting slings are called one way slings, or disposable lifting slings, it is more out of habit as it is no longer the case that they can only be used once; a recent change in legislation means that this type of lifting sling now has to have a safety factor of 7:1 – up from the previous 5:1.

The upgraded breaking load safety factor enables more than just one use in normal lifting operations and working conditions.

Why Use a One Way Sling / Disposable Lifting Sling?

These slings offer a low cost means of lifting, loading, transporting and unloading certain types of cargo; they are designed to be attached/fitted to the load for the very first lifting operation, they will stay with the load throughout its journey which may or may not include loading and unloading multiple times, until it arrives at its final destination. It is common place to remove and destroy the slings after completion of the lifting operation, especially when it is for more odd-ball loads, such as moving a barge or boat.

Types Available:

Having our own fully automated machines, we are able to make your one way slings to suit your requirements, length, width and SWL; they are precisely cut to length, label printing to produce specific details of each sling (stitched in), automatic sewing for accurately stitched slings. We can produce these slings as one offs or in multiples – indeed many customers place regular orders for thousands at a time. Whether you require endless slings or with soft eyes at each end we can fulfil your order to high specifications, fully tested and certified and within a short timeframe.

Where are One Way Slings used?

One way slings are commonly used by tubing / pipe manufacturers as well as lifting and transporting large structures for the construction industry, this often includes roof trusses and pre-fabricated timber, housing panels / walls. Another use for one way slings is for lifting boats and barges from water to dry dock for repairs and maintenance or for transportation to another location.

One way slings are used in many other areas including manufacturers of steel mesh, steel bars, and on production lines for assembling components.

How are Disposable Lifting Slings Used?

Disposable lifting slings are typically used in two ways; they can be built into a structure during the final manufacturing stages, at specific locations to ensure the load will be evenly balanced when lifting and manoeuvring. When this type of load is set down at its final resting place the sling is often left in situ, hidden from view; this scenario saves huge amounts of time both during transportation and on site and additional slings are not needed so there will be no compatibility issues.

The second way is probably the most common method, where the sling is simply wrapped and secured around the load and connected to a lifting device. Again they will stay with the load throughout its operation until the sling is completely removed at the final destination.

Our winch straps are manufactured from heavy duty, high quality polyester. Ranging from 2" to 4", the winch strap can handle any load big or small. They are ideal for pulling, binding, and towing all kinds of loads, the cars, boats, pickup trucks.

Do not use strap if there are any signs of cut webbing, heat or chemical damage.
Do not attempt to use strap above rated capacity.
Alternate hardware available
Webbing straps must be protected when used on rough or sharp objects. Straps that are cut, worn or otherwise damaged should not be used.
A strap is only as strong as its weakest component.

Dahua Sling an ISO 9001 certified firm by Lloyd's Register and a member of WSTDA & LEEA(Lifting Equipment Engineers Association), specializes in the field of lifting & hoisting equipment, webbing and round sling, Ratchet Tie Down and lashing equipment, chain & chain sling, wire rope and wire rope sling, material handling, rigging hardware & other products.

Each order of slings can be batch tested on our in-house calibrated tensile testing equipment to class 0.5 accuracy (0.5% max deviation).

These slings may be used for multiple lifts on the load they are primarily attached to, but must not be removed and re-used on another load.

Standard slings are available in 1000mm, 1200mm, 1600mm and 1800mm circumferences which is divided by 2 to calculate the Effective Working Length (EWL), due to them being endless belts, however other lengths are available as special/custom/bespoke units.

*Safety Factor is calculated as Working Load Limit (WLL) multiplied by a factor of 7 to equal minimum breaking force when new e.g. a 500kg WLL x 7 = 3, 500 Kg minimum breaking load (when new).

  • Single Use - One Way
  • Low cost, simple design
  • Easy to use
  • Stronger and more compact than rope or wire rope alternative solutions.
  • Can be attached or built in to a structure or load, but must only be used to perform a single complete lift.
  • Saves time and cost on-site slinging and reslinging loads.
  • Fully manufactured, labelled and tested in accordance with BS EN 1492-1:2000 or upon request, manufactured to your commercial specifications with supporting technical file.

You can use it to efficiently move and bundle materials during the production cycle. Yet this cargo strap solution is cheap enough to send along with each shipment making it easier for your customers at the other end! This lifting strap or sling is used to safely move your valuable units in the factory and to lower it into a protective shipping form for safe delivery. The strap then travels with the product for easy removal by the customer.

Our endless lifting slings are popular in the steel tube and timber industries. Being endless, each lift bears on a different part of the webbing. Re-useable lifting slings are manufactured to the same EU standards as Duplex and Simplex lifting slings and are colour coded likewise.

Duplex (double thickness) endless lifting slings are also available.

One-way lifting slings for pre-slinging are available but with a 5:1 safety factor for use outside of the E.U only.

Other materials such as Nylon or Polypropylene are available for special applications.

Basic lifting slings are either Duplex (double thickness) or Simplex (single thickness) or in endless form either Simplex or Duplex.

Manufactured to the latest European standards (BS EN 1492-1) all slings within that range are colour coded for easy S.W.L. identification.

We recommend the use of wear sleeves to prolong the life of these lifting slings. Specialised Cargo Nets are also available constructed from webbing using the same 7:1 safety factor.

Also available with metal end fittings.

Flat Endless Polyester Webbing Slings of different capacitiy (SWL), upon customer request, also with different safety factors and width, individual labels and custom printing.

We can print your logo or your text on the sling.

Endless Slings are one of the most versatile and widely used slings, they can be used in all three types of hitches. Sling life is prolonged because of rotation of the wear surfaces.

We also manufacture webbing slings to DIN 60005 norm.

- Do not attempt to use sling above rated lifting capacity.
- When selecting a sling,it is very important to consider the angles at which the sling will be used.
- Slings are subject to cutting when ifting items with sharp egeds. In this case, always use protective sleeves
- Do not use a damaged sling, and se only if trained.
- Do not tie knots in sling webbing as strength is greatly reduced.
- Never drag a sling beneth from a load which is resting on it.
- Chemical active environments can affect the strength of slings
- Inspect slings weekly or more frequently depending on the sling use conditions.
- Always strore slings in a cool, dry and dark place to extend the working lift.
- Always read and understand the operating instructions before use.
- Failure to comply with this warning may result in serious load damageand death or injury.

When using flat woven webbing slings always:
• Store and handle belt slings correctly.
• Inspect belt slings and accessories before use and before placing into storage.
• Follow safe slinging practices, as given overleaf.
• Position the bight for choke lift at 120° (natural angle).
• Position the sling so that the load is uniformly spread over its width and protect the sling from sharp edges.
• Apply the correct mode factor for the slinging arrangement.
When using flat woven webbing slings never:
• Attempt to shorten, knot or tie belt slings.
• Expose belt slings to direct heat or flames.
• Use belt slings at temperatures above 80°C or below 0°C without consulting the supplier.
• Expose belt slings to chemicals without consulting the supplier.
• Shock load belt slings.
• Use belt slings which are cut or which have loose or damaged stitching
Selecting the Correct Sling
Belt slings are available in a range of materials and sizes in single leg and endless sling forms. Select the slings to
be used and plan the lift taking the following into account:
Polyester is resistant to moderate strength acids but is damaged by alkalis; polyamide (Nylon) is virtually immune to
alkalis but is damaged by acids; and polypropylene is little affected by acids or alkalis but is damaged by some
solvents, tars and paints.
The sling must be both long enough and strong enough for the load and the slinging method. Apply the mode factor
for the slinging method. For use at temperatures exceeding 80°C or below 0°C refer to the suppliers instructions. If
the slings are used in multi-leg arrangement the angle formed between the legs should not be less than 30° or
greater than 90°. If abrasion, heat generated by friction or cutting from edges or corners are likely, select a sling
fitted with protective sleeves and/or use suitable packing.
Storing and Handling Belt Slings
Never return wet, damaged or contaminated slings to storage. They should be cleaned with clear water and dried
naturally. Never force dry belt slings. Store belt slings hung from non-rusting pegs which allow the free circulation of
air. The storage area should be dry, clean, free of any contaminates and shaded from direct sunlight. Do not alter,
modify or repair a belt sling but refer such matters to a Competent Person.
NOTE: The material from which the sling is manufactured may be identified by the colour of the label or printing on
the label: Polyester = Blue, Polyamide (Nylon) = Green, Polypropylene = Brown and the sling may also be dyed with
a colour code to indicate SWL.
Using Belt Slings Safely
Do not attempt lifting operations unless you understand the use of the equipment, the slinging procedures and the
mode factors to be applied. Do not use defective slings or accessories. Check the correct engagement with fittings
and appliances, ensure smooth radii are formed, do not twist or cross slings and do not overcrowd fittings. Position
the sling so that the load is uniformly spread over its width. Position the bight for a choke lift at the natural (120°)
angle to prevent friction being generated. Ensure that stitching is in the standing part of the sling away from hooks
and other fittings. Take the load steadily and avoid shock loads. Do not leave suspended loads unattended. In an
emergency cordon off the area.
In-service Inspection, Maintenance and Replacement
Inspect slings each day before use, looking for:

  • Missing or unreadable ID tag
  • Melted, charred or weld-splattered areas
  • Acid or alkali burns
  • Holes, tears, cuts, snags or embedded particles
  • Broken or worn stitching
  • Excessive abrasive wear or elongation
  • Knots or brittle areas
  • Broken, corroded, pitted distorted fittings

Do not use worn or damaged slings or attachments. Discard or repair them. Use damaged slings only after they are repaired, reconditioned, and proof tested by the sling manufacturer or a qualified person. Keep certificates of proof test.
Maintenance requirements are minimal. Belt slings may be cleaned with clear water. Remember weak chemical
solutions will become increasingly stronger by evaporation. Regularly inspect belt slings and, in the event of the
following defects, refer the sling to a Competent Person for thorough examination: illegible markings; damaged,
chaffed or cut webbing; damaged or loose stitching; heat damage; burns; chemical damage; solar degradation;
damaged or deformed end fittings.
